Introvert - A thorned reality

Poems, anecdotal monologues and song

 Purpose Focus Action

Concede to the negative?

No!

Allow only,

The focus of possibility

And the positive of potential.

Defy all expected limitation -

Destroy worlds of margin and

Drink the oceans of confine.

Salute!

Musing monologues

Looking like an Ophelia, at The Academy Drama School in Whitechapel; helping with auditions.

My hair refused to remain in any restraint. All I needed was some rosemary…

Well after a fun day of activity, I headed home…

From behind the wheel

At first the crisp evening air provides a spectrum of vision.

I feel a swell of excitement as I head towards a castle - the romantic outline entices my imagination down the jaggered history line, where lancing knights would have duelled on the green.

Its windows and arrow coves are lighted with sensual shadows

The Tower of London standing proud, even among waves of modernism

As I pass, I glance at the bridge, like two giant blue giraffes facing each other, striding across the Thames.

Elegant neck and crowning battlements

As if in a time bubble I drive on…

My bubble speckled with intrusive raindrops

Protected from the elements I speed towards the river anxious to complete my journey.

Embankment is a treasure trove -

Jewelled on the banks of London's line

Buildings I know of and buildings I've not noticed before.

I sweep away the water crossly in an effort to absorb more.

I look to my right, behold clothed in a hue of colour, a structure that would thrill even Dracula.

The gothic twists and embroider mouldings appear almost villainous in a fairy tale drenched in purple.

Cold, still, awesome - it dominated the skyline for just a brief moment as I passed by - its fleeting sight lit a momentary spark of fear…

Onwards I travel in my 'time machine'

A monstrous wheel balanced precariously close to the waters edge -

It made me think I was Alice in Wonderland.

Its stillness, gave me the feeling that I was journeying through a freeze frame and the only thing keeping me close to reality was the constant flow of black cabs and motorbikes weaving past me.

I long to catch sight of the river

The black, sludgy, glacier - pushing its way through London's history

Straining to glimpse the waters folds I slow down.

Wondering what it would be like to delve into the dark depths and to be totally engulfed by the liquid creases.

To be comforted by the icy roar

To dive into the unknown tide…

I dispel that thought

A cold shiver runs down my spine…

I continue wide eyed.

The rain's speckles turn into a torrential flush threatening to spoil my visionary delights.

Frustrated I turn past Big Ben -

He stands above me, his laughter rings out eleven times, his bellows mock my efforts to see.

Battling the liquid missiles I steam ahead.

I have to see the river

I want to see the river

With a sharp in take of breath - I see, I see

I see a string of lights adorn the banks, beautifully mirrored,

Sparkling pearls scattered, gently caressing…

The river snakes along,

Flowing between the legs of Lambeth Bridge,

Arced seductively over the waters

The hurried sight of dotted light

Feels like the teasing tongue of a French kiss…

 Wings of Freedom

 AKA - Native

Before I went to drama school I was involved with many projects (for example doing video links for South Thames Student TV station, short (soap-like) film, recording songs for an album...)

One of the projects was a music video (as seen above), a collaberation with a Kensington film student (Anna) and a Richmond sound engineer (Bosun). I have been fortunate to meet many creative people who have inspired me and expanded my knowledge.

Below are the words to the song I wrote.

(Song)

I've got a love that guides me

Gives me wings of Freedom.

I've got a love that guides me

Gives me wings of Freedom.

I couldn't face the day,

Anger self pity in the way,

So tired of pain and struggle - yeh

Couldn't see beyond the wall

Couldn't disguise my loss at all

But the chains of doom began to fall.

Life can be filled of chaos and fear,

Have faith, reach up, and find you joy within.

I've got a love that guides me

Gives me wings of Freedom.

I've got a love that guides me

Gives me wings of Freedom.

From vision to rebirth,

I found true light in the earth.

I found the time to heal and learn - O

To become your own,

Look to where the blade will grow

Feel the spirit of love -

Love over flow.

Life can be filled of chaos and fear,

Have faith reach up and find you joy within.

Life can be filled of chaos and fear,

Have faith reach up and find you joy within.

I've got a love that guides me

Gives me wings of Freedom.

I've got a love that guides me

Gives me wings of Freedom.

Free - I wanna be free.

As I lay abandoned -

I feel the sun upon my face,

Emerging through the water

My heart begins to race.

Cause - I've got a love that guides me

Gives me wings of Freedom.

I've got a love that guides me

Gives me wings of Freedom.

Free - I wanna be free.

Free - I wanna be free.

For Children -

Crush n' stuff

Rainbow rich my jelly bean jar

You coaxed it out to share

I gave it up - you took my beans

And threw them in the air.

My jelly bean jar all smashed and bits

Sulk replace delight

Nothing left - a pebble kicked

Stomped on daisy whites!

Sticky fingers, head down low

Patterned beans on path and stone

Jelly beans - my jelly bean jar

All broke and crushed and stuff.

Wicked King

Wicked King - he rules with sticks

He beats my jelly beans

I hate the King

Make him swim

With crocodiles and bats.

In a box

With mites and ghosts

With dogs and silly clowns

Put the King without his men

To lay on muddy ground.

With crocodiles and bats and cats and pigs and silly clowns

Put the King without his men

To bring back my jelly beans

Bring back my beans so bright.

The only way the wicked King can

Exchange the wrong for right.
