| Introduction
The manuscripts are written from life experiences while growing up in the breathtaking and untamed lands of Southern Africa. A land of ancient kings and ancient mysteries. A unique country blessed with an abundance of metals like gold, silver, chrome, iron ore and copper, and also rich in gemstones - emeralds, diamonds, different semi-precious stones of jade, malachite, amethyst and many others. It is said in historical times that King Solomon and Queen Sheba enjoyed the gold of Ophir from gold mines of Southern Africa. I was born in the small town called Salisbury the capital city of Rhodesia when Joshua Nkomo, a young man was President of the Rhodesia African National Congress. At that time Garfield Todd was the first Federation Prime Minister. I have often thought about the life we lived in the sun drenched bush and forests, filled with carefree days of joy, sometimes mingled with sorrow and death. The different experiences of happiness and excitement, incredible beauties seen and lived through. Places not yet commercialised where indigenous peoples live at peace amongst the countless varieties of beautiful wild animals. The changes that have taken place over the early years from the Federation Rhodesia & Nyasaland to modern Zimbabwe. Africa, even after so much change and ravages of war, is still a land that's full of promise and adventure. It was this desire to capture and share these moments that are immortalised in my memory and heart with the readers and for them to also catch a glimpse of the timeless echoes of Africa and part of the journey I was so blessed to have lived. |
